The Empathic Child

Many artists are empathic at an early age. I know I was. Here is a page from my own story I am writing & illustrating, called, Diary of a Soul Traveler. In it I hope to give insight into the highly sensitive person and the creative potential within all of us.
Liora was four when she met Ms. Eaves next door.
Her parents thought she liked coloring,
but it wasn’t the crayons that pulled her there.
It was the hush of a lonely house,
and the way Ms. Eaves heart flickered, dim but waiting— like a lamp in the corner, quietly hoping someone would turn it on.

So Liora brought her magic crayons and her star-filled coloring book, and she sat on the ground like moonlight puddled on the wood floor.
She didn’t speak much.
She didn’t need to.
Her quiet creativity did the speaking.
Liora drew galaxies with wide spirals and comet tails, and while she colored,
the room grew ever brighter.
Mrs. Eaves would just smile,
hands folded in her lap, watching.
And Liora felt it— not just the gratitude,
but the soul-light she had rekindled within the old woman’s heart.
This was the real reason Liora was here.
A gentle joy rose like steam from a teacup.
And in the silence,
Two timeless souls rejoiced in the presence of unconditional love --
And that mystical source where we all originated from.
