This shows the process I designed for a tree painting I was commissioned to do. The customer wanted a tree similar to one I created with Photoshop with two exceptions. They wanted it to be a real painting that they could hang above their fireplace and they wanted it to reflect the wildlife within their own area -- what an exciting creative challenge!
I had no problem painting animals but to create similar effects as Photoshop into acrylic paint?! That was a bit more of a challenge. Here's a few things I did.
1) To simulate the Photoshop Leaf Brushes with Masks, I created hand made papers and then cut leaves out of them with a Cricut machine.
2) For the Trunk, I created a Photoshop Mask effect, by once again using handmade marbled paper and cutting it out but by hand. It was far too large for a Cricut machine!
In the end the tree does not look exactly like my Photoshop tree, but this challenge ended up spurring me to create NEW exciting mixed media processes, which ended up being quite stunning - maybe even more stunning, as it has real texture that one can touch.
In the end I am pleased and so is my customer. Hooray!
